State of Clutter Report

Yorba started off in 2023 with a clear mission: to rid the internet of annoying and dangerous tactics. Since then, we’ve had a lot of activity. And it brought a lot of new users.

Every action on Yorba tells us something new about accounts, subscriptions, spam, and the annoying reality of what it means to exist, shop, or share online.

We tracked and shared the trends in our first annual STATE OF CLUTTER report, and, we’ve gotta say it: Houston, we have a problem. You might not like to think about where your private data is being leaked. And you probably don’t want to worry about your bank account right now. And you’re surely aware of the massive timesuck that is email management. But listen: we’ve broken down the main things you need to know and some ways to get out of fast.

The good news: you don’t have to delete all your accounts.
The bad news: you have a lot of accounts.

Before diving into the report, we’ll break down an overview of how we got this data and the accounts and companies driving most of the noise in this report.

Data Privacy & Methodology

This comprehensive report combines anonymized data from Yorba's member base with extensive industry research and expert interviews. The analysis uses system-generated identifiers and aggregated datasets to protect user privacy while maintaining data integrity. The research incorporates public findings from multiple academic studies, including a meta-analysis of 24 studies examining over 5,000 office workers, providing a robust foundation for the report's conclusions.
